Plumas National Forest
In the Summer of 2002, fire blazed through Plumas and Lassen
National Forests.  Sparked by Union Pacific railroad workers who had
failed to adequately clear their work area, it spread quickly and
destroyed 55,000 acres of pristine wilderness.  Since that time,
reforestation efforts have been undertaken by the U.S. Dept. of
Agriculture and the U.S. Forest Service.  We are proud to be doing
our part as well, through national non-profit planting groups, to bring
this wonderful natural resource back to life.
Plumas National Forest is a 1,146,000-acre (4,638 km²) United States
National Forest located in northern California, in the Sierra Nevada
mountains. About 85 percent of the National Forest lies in Plumas
County, but smaller portions are found in eastern Butte, northern Sierra,
southern Lassen, and northeastern Yuba counties.
