Who plants the trees?
All planting is done by third party non-profit reforestation organizations and groups
across the country, and even overseas. Trees Remember does not contract with US
government agencies, but rather, through our business model, we support and
perform unaffiliated marketing of their reforestation projects. We facilitate orders for
them and handle the consumer interface. They do the actual planting, according to
their own initiatives, programs, and policies. These third party organizations, like UNEP
( United Nations Environmental Programme) have planted literally millions of trees, and
have been planting trees over a span of decades for the greater good of the planet.
Where will my tree(s) be planted? Can I visit it?
Your tree(s) will be planted on public land, usually in a state forest, in an area where the
experts with deem it most beneficial to plant. While it is only natural to want to have a
"local" planting, quite frankly, there are places on the planet which need new growth far,
far more than others. We believe it is a more generous gift to plant trees in these
ravaged areas, rather than where it is simply "convenient". We encourage our
customers to look at "the Big Picture" when giving their gifts, and trust the planting
teams to plant their trees where they will do the most good.
Does my tree have any sort of identification on it?
No. The non-profit groups who do the planting, do not have the time or resources to
track each tree they plant. More to the point, these programs are designed to plant
trees in areas where human traffic is sparse, so they have a better chance to take root
and prosper, yielding a greater benefit to us all. An identification program would sap
precious resources (time and money) needed for planting the trees themselves.
What is the difference between "Honoree" and "Recipient" and "Giver"?
The "Honoree" is the person in whose name the tree is being dedicated. The "Recipient"
is the party to which the acknowledgement card and personalized messages are sent.
The "Giver" is the person purchasing this gift for the Recipient.
Exactly what does the Recipient get?
The Recipient receives an elegant Acknowledgement Card in a 100% recycled cardstock
frame, (which is quite suitable for display if they so choose). The frame features a linen
weave texture, double embossed black foil border, rough deckled edges, and a small
Eternity Tree charm, to serve as a subtle physical reminder of the dedication and
memory associated with it. In addition, if the Giver elects to include a personalized
message, a small fold-over card is included with that message inside. All materials are
shipped in 100% recycled rigid mailers, to assure their safe arrival regardless of any
rough handling by the postal department.
Can trees be dedicated to pets who have passed away?
Absolutely. It is quite common. See our Pet Memorials page.
Why should I use The Trees Remember?
The main reason we exist is to generate interest in reforestation by making the giving
of tree dedications fast, simple, and most importantly, ELEGANT and PERSONALIZED.
The organizations we work with do not give you all the opportunities to personalize
your gift, or present it as elegantly, as we can. As an example, other parties offer only
a form letter, so your card says what they want it to say, not what you do. We include
an elegant personal note, in addition to the acknowledgement card, which lets you
express your own feelings to the gift recipient, in your own words. It seems like a
small detail, but it is a huge difference, as these cards make your gift truly a gift from
the heart, and provide an opportunity for you to say what you alone truly feel. Our
product also arrives in a rigid mailer, not a flimsy envelope, so the condition of your gift,
is assured, even if the mail man is having a bad day. There are other reasons, but
simply put, we add physical and emotional value to the giving (and receiving!)
experience which is unavailable through other parties.
How long after I order them are the trees planted?
All planting is done by certified, national third party non-profit organizations. Planting
times and locations are entirely up to them, according to need and their own particular
contractual obligations with the US Forestry Dept., National Park Service, etc. Due to
weather, planting season, labor supply, and/or other factors, some trees in National
Forests may be bought in bulk, and may even have already been planted in anticipation
of future orders. The actual personal dedication of the tree, through the Trees
Remember service, with either the National Park they are planted in, the non-profit
organization doing the planting, or with the United Nations Environmental Programme
will happen within a few days of the receipt of the order.
